The Key Functions of International Affairs and Field Operations are:

  1. To coordinate and ensure adequate facilitation and proper operations of DPP field offices.
  2. Direct Police to investigate any information of criminal nature relating to genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity, terrorism, human trafficking, piracy, political offences and other related offences;
  3. To give advice and guidance to police and other government institutions in the conduct of investigations of the offences of genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity, terrorism, human trafficking, piracy, political offences and other related offences;
  4. To coordinate the management and prosecution of offences of genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity, terrorism, human trafficking, piracy, political offences and other related cases; 
  5. To coordinate matters of extradition, mutual legal assistance, international legislation and other issues of cooperation and collaboration in international criminal matters;
  6. To ensure effective, improved and sustainable organizational systems for increased collaboration with partners; prosecution of international crimes, terrorism, dug related cases, money laundering, cybercrime, trafficking in persons, and associated offences;
  7. To recommend to relevant authorities, the design and implementation of appropriate measures in Uganda to redress jurisdictional, evidential, procedural, and constitutional barriers to international cooperation and enforcement in criminal matters; and
  8. To organize and participate in training sessions, seminars, conferences, and other fora on international crimes, terrorism, dug related cases, money laundering, cybercrime, trafficking in persons, and associated offences.
