Mr. Michael Waninda Wamasebu

Mr. Michael Waninda Wamasebu was born in the Eastern Uganda district of Mbale on 17th January 1958.

He holds a Bachelor of Laws degree of Makerere University obtained in 1983. He also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice of the Law Development Centre obtained in 1984.He further holds a Certificate In The Prosecution Of Juvenile Offenders from the University of Bristol in the UK obtained in 1996 working under the aegis of the British Ministry for Overseas Development and the Crown Prosecution Service. He additionally holds a certificate in the management of Human Resources Of The Crown Agents International Management Training Centre obtained in 2001.

He worked in private practice as a legal associate with the law firm Tsekooko And Wekesa Advocates up to 1984 when he joined the Directorate of Public Prosecutions on temporary terms and was later in 1986 appointed a state attorney by the Public Service Commission. He additionally heads the data and documentation desk. He is currently the Assistant DPP in charge of quality assurance and inspections.

Mr Wamasebu attended primary school in Kisoko Primary School 1966- 1973 where he obtained A Primary Leaving Certificate; he joined St.Mary's College Kisubi (1974 -1979 ) where he obtained both The East Africa Certificate of Education(1977) and The East African Advanced Certificate Of Education (1979) before joining Makerere University (1980- 1983) where he studied law. He proceeded to The Law Development Centre (1984) where he obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in Law.

Mr. Wamasebu was called to the Uganda bar in December 1990 and has remained an active legal practitioner ever since.

  • Mr. Wamasebu was also appointed as lead counsel to two judicial commissions of Inquiry to investigate the maladministration of local government grants in Uganda in 1994 and 1995.
    Mr. Wamasebu has attended various courses and conferences:-
  • Legal Issues in Privatisation I.L.I Kampala, 1996.
  • Environmental Law Litigation UNEP Nairobi, 1997.
  • Common wealth Anti Money Laundering Conference Arusha, 2000.
He holds professional membership of the following:-
  1. Advocate of the High Court Of Uganda and all courts subordinate thereto.
  2. Uganda National Prosecutors Association.
  3. Uganda Law Society.
Mr. Wamasebu, besides being a lawyer has interest in International Relations, Globalization issues, Third World Debt Networking, Climatology and Golf.
