Netherlands-Uganda Support to Public Prosecutions Project(NUSPPP) In 1995, the Governments of Uganda and the Netherlands fielded a mission to identify the needs of the Directorate of Public Prosecutions. Subsequently in 1996 a project document was submitted to the Netherlands Minister for Development Cooperation who approved the execution of the Netherlands-Uganda Support to Public Prosecutions Project to be jointly implemented. It started in May 1998 and has a six year duration divided into 2 phases each implemented jointly by the Royal Netherlands Embassy in Kampala and the DPP (1998-June 2001), while in the second phase (July 2001-2003) the project is being implemented by the DPP.The objective of the project is to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Directorate of Public Prosecutions so as to promote the rule of law and increase public confidence in the criminal justice system in Uganda. This overall goal is to be achieved when the following results are achieved in the six year planning period for the project:-
In the second phase of project implementation, the Technical Committee has been expanded to handle other development activities of the Directorate. The Project is divided into five components coordinated by the Project Coordinator who is also responsible for the day to day management and strategic planning and accounts of the Project and for the improvement of the external communications and coordination with other criminal justice agencies.
